A note from Charlie We’re in the middle of our busiest ever Staycation Summer at The Fir Hill and it’s great to have our wonderful guests around, enjoying our Yurts and all there is to offer in nearby Newquay and our wonderful beaches and countryside. Our two new luxury ‘Couples Plus’ Yurts built have been almost fully booked throughout July and August and we’ve had great reports from guests about how much they like them. We’ll be adding another in 2022. These Yurts are ideal for couples, three friends or couples with a child - and they also provide couples a more reasonably priced holiday outside of school holidays. We have created a new 70-tree apple orchard created in ‘Dead Ash Wood’, a newly planted four acre ash wood destroyed a few years ago by Ash Dieback, ”Hymenoscyphus Fraxineus”, creating the opportunity to plant this new orchard. Given the lack of supply of Cornish apple varieties (another scarcity caused by Covid 19), we decided to plant some other West Country varieties (actually from Devon). This planting was focussed on cider and good juicing varieties…Camelot, Ellis Bitter, Pigs Snout, Teign Harvey, Sweet Coppin, Balls Bittersweet, Paighton Marigold and Tale Sweet. With an eye on enabling our guests to plan and hold large events at The Fir Hill - weddings, large parties and so on - we have created a significant level/flat area in the middle of the site, which allow for a marquee or for guests to pitch their own tents. With almost all COVID-19 restrictions ending today, large events are now possible again, so please contact me if you are interested in using these facilities for your event, later this year or in 2022.
